Crain's has made a mistake in saying that Pepsico is based in Texas. The Pepsico snacks subsidiary, Frito-Lay, is based in Plano, TX. But PepsiCo HQ is in Purchase, NY. That said, an impressive percentage of PepsiCo's operations are located in Chicago. The PepsiCo buyout of Quaker Oats was a BOON for Chicago. Rather than take Quaker jobs away, PepsiCo has been relocating employees here ever since the Quaker buyout. Now, PepsiCo's so-called "Beverages and Foods" division is headquartered at the building Fifield built for Quaker at 555 West Monroe a few years ago. Beverages and foods--doesn't that cover most if not all of PepsiCo? My goodness--they should move the rest of the headquarters operations to Chicago.
