Chronicle Live website article from 09/08/19

Work stopped at Blyth housing development due to planning breaches

Work at the Windsor Drive/Kensington Court site, in the south-west of the town, was stopped by Northumberland County Council 12 months ago due to planning breaches

A council spokesman said: "The site is covered by two separate applications, one of which is not being built in accordance with the approved plans and the other which started without the approval of the pre-commencement conditions.

"New applications have now been submitted and we have stopped works at the site until the applications have been determined.

"In relation to the condition of the site, we will look into this matter"

Shopping and leisure scheme to get under way at Blyth South Beach

Blagdon Estate has secured permission for its two-storey development at Blyth’s South Beach which will create around 85 new jobs for the area, as well as a host of construction roles.

The 16,000 sqft first phase will have several ground floor retail units and a first floor space, which the developer says could be used by leisure businesses, such as a gym operator or restaurant.

The development will be anchored by a 3,750 sqft Coop convenience store, but the developer is hoping to attract local and regional businesses and entrepreneurs to the remaining space.

Shipping container village could be built in Blyth Market Place as plans are lodged with council

Shipping container village could be built in Blyth as plans are lodged with council

The plans, through Blyth-based agent Planning Online UK, seek permission to use the land for upcycled shipping containers to provide retail and leisure facilities plus a permanent tented roof covering.

To be known as Pod Park Blyth, a planning statement suggests the scheme "would afford substantial and wide-ranging opportunities for those wishing to establish new business enterprises on a small scale and dip their toes into business without significant risk".
