Probably a new Green Quarter one for Jefferson Place

Or.....

Mob bosses pulling union guys off the job?

Attack by Godzilla and Mothra?

An outbreak of botulism?

Discovery of a mysterious object that is impervious to heat and blunts all drill bits but which emits a deafening high pitch screech and is discovered to contain the secret of human civilisation?
Builders went for a break and.....:

Tea machine broken- can't work until it's fixed,

Builders went back to wrong site,

Really good pictures in The Sun,

They've "only had 10 minutes!"

LOL

does it come with fish? lol
Apparently it will do! The plan is to have a 'gourmet' chippy (now there's a paradox) in the basement- the pink bit.

To be fair- if this ends up anything like the fish and chip shops in Australia, where you have the usual, plus a fish counter, rather than the choice of haddock or cod, it could be a ripper!

I was thinking exactly the same.

Saw the two pink cranes today a Potato Wharf Andy. Btw, what's that huge green monster across the way in Salford. Think it might be located by or near the Crescent? Not sure.
Could it be the Allsop designed tower?
Seen your green monster this morning and its not really a monster.
It does looks monsterous from Salford Central/ Chapel St haha!
And then there were 6....

The GQ may not be the most aesthetically pleasing of developments, but they don't mess around when it comes to construction!
Yeah there's cluster of 6 large cranes on-site now. By no means my favourite development, but a big improvement on wasteland and hopefully a catalyst for the area.

The Hotel/office bit will be the making of the development for my money.

Good first post Reddz- I reckon you've nominted yourself to keep the forum updated on this one ha-ha!
Not that i'm aware, but given the amount of reinvigoration tht seems to be happening in the town centres throughout the conurbation, I'm thinking Stockport, Rochdale & Rawtenstall amongst others, maybe a seperate thread would be an idea?

It shouldn't really overlap with 'Greater Manchester Developments', which is general, or the Retail thread which tends to be City Centre and this is a major project for Bury.

There's a crane up and steel frame-work at this development in Ancoats. Not sure what's going up though- is it one of the kick-start projects?

Thanks MR. It's taller than I'd imagined, though the steel frame is already steepling. One of those that without being earth-shattering, will keep some original facade and should add to the overall regeneration and critical mass of population that may eventually see Ancoats get some small businesses, retail, bars and restaurants integrated. At the moment Ancoats is still a work in progress.

Haven't counted all the cranes, just a few I've noticed:

Ladywell Metro station, Eccles - 1
Salford ? Regent Road - 1
Oxford Road - 1
MMU - 1
Sarah Tower - 1
Chethams - 2
Axis - 0.05
Co-op 3
Ancoats 1 (a big red one. Anybody know what this is for?)
MMU Art building

= 12(.5)

Anybody else? Granada/ITV?, Quays?

If anyone wants a really good shot of the cranes at First Street, go to the Hulme arch. :)

Not quite Hulme Arch Jrb, but just for you:

No it's not but usually if the crane base is in place then it means that the crane will be appearing in the next week
^^Didn't we say that with Axis last time haha.....playing a risky game here Vdb  Go on, what's your projected high for the crane count 2017.... don't pretend you haven't got a graph for that :)

This is a game anyone can play. I'm going to stick my neck out, say we'll break the magic 50, peaking at 52!

Great to see Port St progressing BTW.

^^Crane numbers might be the same (again) as 2008, but I bet the number of floors being built and metres added to the skyline is double what it was then...... There’s a job for you Vdb :lol::lol::lol:

Clockworks: Two cranes, as reported

There are x2 past Hulme Asda on the left hand side coming out the city. Not sure if they've been counted or actually even qualify?

^^ Balance is restored..... +1. The first one is going up at the Lancastrian, New Cross. Hopefully this sizeable scheme will start to go hyper now, after extensive ground works. It's another one of those developments in a key position, that will make a difference, over and above the development itself:
