If the arts in Tehran are to develop the creation of an arts quarter is fundamental, now bearing in mind there is no area yet and galleries are spread around the city it would be better to group them together. But where in Tehran could that be, remember large spaces are need and good transport links would also be mandatory.

Thoughts below thanks.

Go to shush. There are big old fabrics beeind sold very very cheap. And Tehran muncipilaty want to turn that area to a cultural hub,Also the city will in the long term move southwards, cause the prices in north tehran has reached an dead end.The south will boom in 5 years.

He is exactly right about South Tehran, I live in central Tehran, I would never even consider going to live in the north even though the weather is better. It's just too expensive and ill served and planned. I still prefer the old Californian designed road system around Karim Khan rather than that mishmash around Darband and Niavaran.

Do you know when they plan to start promoting this area? I mean the question is if people who live in north and north west Tehran will bother coming this far south, to work. But then again if they start building live/work unit style things and good infrastructure, then I can imagine that it may work. It would be the IT and design industries that would bring in the most money, but the arts galleries that would bring the people. Also pedestrianised would make a big difference.

They alraedy have started, but u know it will take time. And first they have to promote Islamic art then it will be open to other arts. But the future is the south. They want pedestranised some areas of the south, and they start with Baazar, but definetly it will be the south wich will have this spaces and areas u are looking 4.
U need an original place with history, but underdeveloped.cause its cheaper. These are the best places 4 Investment. And remember the arts locations in the west.It was always locations like this which developed nicely and turned the whole area into a booming district. Also this areas have theyr own flavor.4get shahrake gharb, welenjak areas.they have no history,no culture, nothing.
Ekbatan differs a little bit, cause it has its own micro society and is developing its own trends, sometimes showing the future trends in Tehran, but it has lost this a little bit in th elast years.
But i am impressed by ur vison.Go on brother, success is yours.cause u are dreaming and u have power.Khoda hamrat

by arts quearter i believe we mean somewhere full of galleries and art shops and opera and concert/music halls etc, a whole area just for that

graffiti is everywhere, and again, it doesnt take away that ekbatan is moreso a residential area

somewhere around shoush is a good place, get some culture back to the south side

Yes I mean galleries cafes theatres and the likes, I suppose some form of grafitti could work on sections but it cheapens it and the municipapity will just paint over it anyway. sarbaze tabarestan do you have any pictures or clues which streets have started to develop?
