It's pretty slow progress on this one isn't it
Seems to have been a lot of interior work. Hopefully we'll start to see them put the buildings exterior back to what it was soon.It's pretty slow progress on this one isn't it
Hope they can still meet the opening date. Is it scheduled for December this year?
In this article it says it's opening 'during 2017.'

Be nice of them to round it up to 20 floors. When it was first planned by Robert Jones it was going to be 21 but nimbys complained so the height was reduced to just 17. I still have the original news story for it somewhere.and still getting taller...?

They did kick up back in the 1980's when there was a proposal to build The Tower in Victoria Square. 168 metres high if my memory is correct.
That was a knee-jerk reaction to the earthquakes that was given a voice by Share an Idea. Less NIMBY-ism more short-term fair of earthquakes. A good example of the council (and the govt) not giving a crap would be the moaning over the majority of the anchor projects, the Riccarton Bus Lounge, and many, many road changes (good or bad). Yeah it looks like they're extending it to the top parking level (5) and my guess would be its so they can fit more parking in if they're not converting all current parking into areas for the hotel.I meant it looks like the podium is going to get taller...
Looking at side, there must be a building that will butt up to it. Or else wouldn't you have at least some sort of opening
