Here are some of the proposals for Quebec City. Three years ago, I would have been very skeptic about any towers being built because of the severe height regulations but the current city administration is now approving taller projects...finally.

Le quartier St-Roch est en plein renouveau. Voilà un projet qui a été suggéré.
This one would be built in the St-Roch neighbourhood, which is plausible since there is more and more economic activity, especially the video game industry.

Situated on Laurier boulevard.
Many towers are going to be built on this boulevard in the next 2-3-4 years.

This project is called Quebec's gate because it is situated next to the bridges. I have no idea if this one is going to be built.

The construction of the second tower of this complex should begin this autumn...it will supposedly be 26 floors high.

There may be a couple of other projects but I'll post them later.

For those who might be interested, I found some pictures and indicated where the new Arena would be located. I also found the rendering which was presented by the mayor last week. Initially, the Arena was supposed to be built on the racetrack but it was decided that this new location would provide greater visibility. I also find interesting that on the rendering, the racetrack seems to look like a football field...just saying! ;)

P.S. On the map, the grey area facing the new Arena is a big shopping mall.

The actual Colisée Pepsi, constructed in 1949, isn't adapted to the type of concerts and shows we see nowadays: it isn't air-conditioned, the acoustic is awful and the equipment storage area is minuscule. Despite all this, it has attracted enough shows to cover its operating costs and even turn out a little profit. Hence, it is reasonable to believe that a new Arena would be able to cover its operating costs by attracting more shows, even without a team of the NHL. That being said, let's not kid ourselves, a sports team is highly desirable.

By the way, a media war seems to be brewing in Quebec between Quebecor and Bell. The former has been stealing an important part of the market since it began its mobile services last year. Quebecor has a lot to gain by putting its name on the Arena, placing an NHL team in it and distributing such content through its media empire. According to some "well-informed" sources, as they are called, Quebecor would pay an initial sum of 70M$ plus a yearly fixed amount... We'll see soon enough. It's the reason why Bell is trying to prevent that from happening (the fact that the CEO's of both companies hate their guts is a factor I suppose). Bell is in talks with the city to buy the Arena's name and with the Remillard family to buy V, a cable TV station. The problem with Bell is that we know its main goal simply is to prevent Quebecor from getting what it wants. Hence, it would be content to put its name on the Arena but its commitment to bring the Nordiques back is highly questionnable! Finally, there has been some rumors that an insurance company would be in the running as well and I believe it is SunLife, which is currently making a big push in the province... I'll wait to have more concrete informations.
