A Deep Miracle
UAE-based Dewan Architects & Engineers has been awarded a contract to design and supervise the construction of a tilted 150m-high tower in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Serving as a headquarters for building material supplier Al-Abdulkarim Holding, the 35-floor tower will contain a total built-up area of 54,846m2.
It will feature double-height glass cladding to demarcate the client's 27 office floors from the remaining lower offices which are to be leased to other firms.
The tower’s façade and tilting volumes will create undulations within the interior, resulting in distinctive office spaces on every floor. A retail podium will be wrapped around its main volume.
Dewan stated that the tower is set to open in 2014.
According to statistics from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Saudi Arabia currently only has six buildings over 150m.
A further 19 towers over 150m are either topped out or under construction, with most scheduled for completion by 2014.
