Cross posting from the Patna Projects thread... see more pics in the original post.

Looks like a bus station (or even worse than that looking at newly built bus stations in Rajkot, Lucknow etc). Couldnt they spend a bit more money building something that looks better??

Looks like that is the plan, after all...

This structure is only an interim terminal. Built as a stop-gap solution while the State government goes about procuring the land for a larger proper civil enclave next to the newly paved apron.

If you see the satellite image originally shared by Avishar, the apron is on the upper side of the photo while the temporary terminal is at the lower left hand side.

Dissapointed that AAI has not installed its standard flowerpots too.

But its like really tiny these airports. Sometimes just a flight or two in a day! Not that bad for that.

Few relatives recently took flight from Darbhanga airport and were highly unimpressed with it. They declared it as worst domestic airport, termed it "glorified stable" and pointed out bad finishing touch in land vehicle circulation area and airport maneuvering area

I hope you did educate them that the structure (and the entire site) is only temporary.

They knew beforehand but no one has hopes of seeing new airport any time soon, for good reasons

It would be tragic if their 'knowledge' became reality.

Time will tell.
Time will tell indeed. It will certainly become reality but timeline will be an issue since Nitish Kumar is not seen as friendly CM for Mithila region. Upcoming airport will serve as gateway to Mithila region which otherwise relies heavily on road and rail networks hence it would be feasible to go for greenfield airport that could eat 50% of Patna's flights at peak of operations (not exaggerating at all).

Yaar ye zyada ho jata hai ...akhir kis basis par log kehte hai darbhanga airport patna ko overtake karega ya 50% pax le lega??? Na to darbhanga city itna bara hai ...aur patna se economically comparable hai....
