The rural Northamptonshire town of Daventry has had a surprising amount of exciting development take place recently with more planned and proposed:

ICON & ABBEY RETAIL PARK

The iCon is Daventry's new green industry centre, home to over 50 small business as well as a conference centre and exhibition spaces. The building has won several awards for its environmental design and other features. As parts of its construction key road infrastructure into the town centre has been improved with new lane arrangements, new traffic control measures and a new pedestrian underpass. The Abbey Retail Park is a new facility to the south of the iCon site.

SUSTAINABLE URBAN EXPANSIONS

PRT SYSTEM

A little way off yet but for some years Daventry District Council have been investigating the possibility of constructing a Heathrow-style elevated personal rapid transit system throughout the town. More info on the proposal is here: http://www.daventrytowncouncil.gov.uk/town-development/prt-system

All in all this exciting small town appears to have a big future. Although restrained by its lack of a town centre rail connection, it has the potential to build on the development of the last forty years and become a significant independent centre.

And then the fourth photo posted:

Sorry I should probably have explained that one in more detail! It's for a new canal that'll run into the redeveloped north quarter of the town centre which is a pretty exciting development, but I forgot to mention that!

Mind you in this day and age the idea of a new pedestrian underpass being built anywhere in Britain is something to behold.
