I don't know if this has been posted anywhere else - did a search but can't find anything.

The Canal and River Trust are refurbishing and repairing the locks at Deansgate Locks. They have built a walkway over the (drained) canal and there are open days this Saturday and Sunday.

More details here..... https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/events/2017-12-02-manchester-open-weekend-rochdale-canal-2-3-december-2017

Edit - also an event on Friday evening - We will also be hosting an evening event on Friday night, 6pm-9pm (1 December). Come along and dance the night away to some much-loved Hacienda club classics in the first ever DJ set in a drained canal lock chamber....

Photos courtesy of Barnsley Victor Flickr (a forumer I think). The Ashton canal towpath has been drained. I wonder if it is related to these works?

I don't think so - different canal..:)

They are installing new gates at lock 4, near the Etihad stadium. Also, according to the stoppages notice from the Canal and River Trust, they are repairing a leak on the Store Street aqueduct.
