Brighton boy - Visit my City if you can because there are a lot of things in the City Centre worth taking pictures of ;) Although Derby is not bad itself.

PS Shame about Midland Station though. Would like to see a pic of Derby's original station is anyone's got one knocking about. Bet you was much nicer.

Yes I have visited Nottingham and Leicester before but just never had the time to take some pics.

I will try and get some pics done of those places whilst I am still living in Wolverhampton, although I'm not here for much longer! yay :)

:) Thanks for the piccies. Looks a lot nicer than I imagined it would. Like most people I've only been through on train or coach, never actually stopped over. Like that fountain and think the main Christmas tree is too small!! :)

Well... I went to Derby today so I might as well start this thread of for our little sister...

Derby... Not as bad as I though... infact pretty nice... I haven't been to Derby recently, and the last time I went I had no interest in architecture. So... Like I did with Leicester the other week... I went to go and take a look around and see how threatening developments like the Eagle Centre are for myself.

Derby has loaddds of old architecture, I was only there for like 45 minutes so I didn't really get to wander to far, but there was loads of old nice building. They need to make much more use of them. Retail wise... they don't have the big luxury brands like Lacoste, Hugo Boss, etc... but they do have luxury shops that sell those brands... Limeys for example had two stores out there. They had loads of little arcades and back streets with little specialist and individual stores. The main problem of, centre of the retail core, right in the middle wasn't all that pleasant.

Finally... i'm absolutely confused what i was westfield we're trying to do with that grey box....

The Rams... you know the carpark as your coming out of the centre, the westfield one....was that there before or did westfield build it with the development?

One more thing... Derbys got loads of lovely churches. I think I say about 4 on my travels...

Derby - Not As Bad As You Though

Everyone has this impression (as I did), that Derby is an unpleasant place...well after going on a brief 45 minutes tour of there city centre....its quick nice :D ... honestly... they've got loads of catherdrals/churches out there...loads of old stunning architecture, the problem is the actual centre of the city centre (where many of the shops are) is fairly horrible...

Anyway... like everywhere else Derbys got loads of redevelopment programs. 100,000sqm Westfield shopping centre is about to complete is October...

Looks fairly nice! My sister and her friend specifically went all the way to Derby to do their Christmas shopping some years back despite having everything they needed much closer to home.

I always wondered what Derby looked like. I had a flat mate at uni from Derby and she was a legend but I've not been there since I was old enough to remember.

Cheers for the pics.

Little sister? I always think of it more as our idiot cousin...
I'm sure I read that Derby is the most prosperous per capita, least deprived and has the lowest crime rate of the three main East Midland cities? Also currently has a Premier League football team (for a few months anyway)...:)

Still, despite this they are worryingly fond of sheep?
