Can't contribute a whole lot to this thread, being 10,000 or so miles away, but here's a little offering:
My extended family owns three buildings in the Arambagh area adjacent to Motijheel. I took this pic around sunset in 1998 from the roof of one of those buildings; if you look closely you can see a cousin of mine standing on the roof of another. Such an unobstructed view is not possible today, due to buildings that have popped up since then.

I have a low-end scanner, which is why some of the non-digital photos I post are not as crisp as they might otherwise be. But better than no scanner
