Time for yet another big masterplan in Copenhagen. This time it's Bryggensyd, today an old industrial area, like many other parts of Cph harbour. This one will be rebuild like many of the others.

The area is just south of the 2 silos that were converted (see Tournesols thread about these), and west of Ørestaden (divided by a "park" and maybe the new Golfcenter in the future). The area is 160.000 m2 btw.

Like other times, this is just a masterplan, so not the final designs yet. It has not been approved yet, but I guess it will be soon. The architects are Danish Plot and Dutch West 8.

And the photos and renderings, all from the official masterplan website - Bryggen Syd

Today:

And the renderings:

And finally the plan:

Great! :)
I've been waiting to see the outcome of this competition and I'm not disappointed.
(Since I didn't expect to se a bunch of skyscrapers. This is CPH ;) )
This PLOT/West8 propossal is clearly the best of the three.

It seems that somewhere arround 12 floors as the max. height is the compromise that politicians and planners/architects can agree on in CPH these days. Which is more than it has been for a long time...

Good news indeed. Can't wait to see what "The Wings" will look like :D (The two twisted blocks on the harbourfront)

Just a note to those not familiar with the area:
The buildings to the left of the harbour in the first rendering is not part of this project.
It's just the approx. volumes of what's currently planned on that side.

Great masterplan. Higher, massive and weird buildings make this district more interesting.
Looks nice, but oh so flat...Why dont they, at least in the renderings, make it a little taller...Show people that tall can be nice and pretty....I mean, this is not the center of the city, who could really mind a tall building here??
looks expensive :) but nice
My God.. So I see u Danes are being quite creative these days :O Applause!
Nice, it's good as waterfronts are revitalized ant put into use like this. :eek:kay:
Ah yes, I love to see growth in Copenhagen, and it looks so cool. And they want to build a beach too!

I am so gonna live in Islands Brygge when I'm leaving home (I just need a high-paying job first  )

But once again, I love this project.
Trip to Islands Brygge South sunday august 30, 2015.

Great Photos and fun to see the 10 years-old posts but the West Amager thread is the place to post Islands Brygge updates nowadays:

+1, but how boring and uninviting the facades on photo no. 4 are. If it weren't for the mail boxes , I would think that it was a building that contains weapens of mass destruction rather than families.

It is the same architect that designed the prison-like row houses beside the A house and all Walls housing in this area incl. the Sphinx high rise. So don't expect much from that either.

Now perhaps we should let this Island Quay thread rest in peace. :bash:
