Travelling along the thames at night looking up and seeing a soaring glass scraper lit up or even during the day being witness to a pleasent, elegant yet simple tower reflecting the sun and water.

Lots of glass, Lots of height, and a great location.

I stick with my 8

I really like this tower and love the thougt of a huge cluster here... but...

this really is not good enough....

actually perhaps it does work next to the cabinet office building, sort of stepping up like that, but with Beetham it looks wrong. I dont know, it really needs some drastic tapering to be safe... it has to retain the height though, our method of solving intrusions on skylines by loping off the tops of buildings has not worked, i cant think of a single example that has!

Looks high quality & the cladding looks good as well. A simple elegant resi-tower that will look very slender as its nearly 170m.
The architects are local as are the community developers (the coin st org) who will use the money from sales in this tower to fund the other community facilities.

The reason it has a flat roof is that it blends in with the LWT & the NT- IT has a flat roof for a design reason rather than the shite flat roofs in say Bank st which are purely flat to get the maximum amount of floorspace the the plot.

I like seeing other parts of new modern London from some of the historic areas and the parks. What are we trying to do? Pretend that modern London doesn't exsist when we are strolling around Hyde Park or down The Mall? It isn't like the Doon St Tower is going to crowd out the Houses of Parliament on the Thames. Now that I woudln't like, but I like this tower and it's location.

Yes a big fat 8/10 and I hope it lives its promise.

I think the point is that this is tower to be built for the community south of the river and part of the Coin Street cooperative. I've seen the exhibition on the groundfloor of the Oxo Tower and have to say that the entire scheme looks fantastic - sports centre, apartments, community facilities etc - exactly what should be built on the current derelict carpark site. Okay the tower is tall, and rather dominating, but look at the design - I don't see it being that fundamentally different to Riverside South. More importantly, its damn slender and for that reason I think it will work. I give it 7.

I'm actually growing to like the impact of the towers poking up from behind horse guards, the glass will allow the buildings to change their appearance over the day and could look elegant rather than brutal, which was what was implied by the silohette. I think we are witnessing something new, experimental yes, but worthy of a try.. rather than a repeat of the half-hearted concrete blocks that once were all the rage.

I quite like the impact these towers will have on this view, there's this sort of magical feel to it that will be enhanced further by these towers.
