The Hong Kong-based company founded in 1987 spearheads its entry into the region, with the opening of a Dubai operation and development office and the announcement of new hotels in Saudi Arabia and Jordan and the acquisition of an existing property in Kuwait.
"Swiss-Belhotel International is delighted to have commenced business in the Middle East region in two new five-star hotels and one existing hotel property." said Edgar Solenthaler, Vice President of Operations and Development - Middle East for Swiss-Belhotel International.
"We are in negotiations for several other properties in the region including one in the UAE," he added.
The new properties include Swiss-Belhotel Plaza Kuwait, Swiss-Belhotel Sharma Resort, currently under construction is located in Saudi Arabia and owned by Tabuk Investment and Tourism Company, and Swiss-Belhotel Amman, to be under construction in the hub of Amman's business district.
With the addition of these properties, Swiss-Belhotel International will manage 21 hotels, resorts and serviced residences in seven countries - Vietnam, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kuwait.
To support the group's rapid expansion plan, regional offices have been established in Dubai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta.
Swiss-Belhotel International expands Middle East presence
.......Elsewhere in the Gulf States, the group has more recently signed landmark resort property – the Swiss-Belresort & Spa Sharma – located in the emerging Tabuk region northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea. The resort is being developed in phases featuring the main hotel building, 27 fully fitted apartments,17 day-use cabins and the All Day Dining restaurant set to open in late 2012, with phase two comprising 24 apartments Banqueting and Conference centre, SPA & Leisure facilities to be completed late 2013.
The Saudi resort will target the fast growing domestic leisure tourism and will offer a dedicated marina with a comprehensive diving centre incorporated into the resort’s footprint. It will feature a ladies beach club and spa built amidst lush landscaping including private BBQ areas, swimming pool and water features. Complementing facilities and services will also include a permanent conference and banqueting marquee, and a mosque on site.
Sharma project is deemed one of the projects implemented by Tabouk Investment and Tourism Company It is the first pioneer resorts on the northern Red Sea coast exactly "Ainoona" gulf distinguished by its singularity as a virgin maritime environment with its fascinating beaches and round the year moderate weather. The geography of the place reflects an environmental variations represented in the mountainous chains,the sandy beaches as well as the botany maritime environment.

The design of the main lay-out of the resort is derived from the local architecture and the dynamics as well as the order of the sea creatures that reflects the harmonious and considered relations in a way that corresponds to the gusts needs. As well, the resort was designed according to a way that directs all chalets towards the sea within an elegant and conventional architectural system.
This design was derived from the surrounding environment as an inspiration source. It, moreover, used its materials in building the resort by taking into consideration the use of the alternative energy resources.Meanwhile, a set of new local plants have been implanted to ensure our efforts in building a pro- environment resort.

Sharma project was designed to fit the Saudi touristic pattern that adheres to its heritage and culture .Hence ,the resort was designed within a consideration which maintains high privacy in so far as the independence of each chalet is concerned. Each chalet directly overlooks the sea but does not overlook the other next chalet. Meanwhile, the resort has a beach and a health club for women, exclusively.
