So I read that work was supposed to restart in third quarter of 2014 but that clearly hasn't happened yet. I am hoping they restart within the coming months, hopefully not years. :hmm:

Sorry to be a bubble-buster, but I think that if it did, news would make their way here in less than an hour. The Dubai Marina is oft-visited by local skyscraper fans, and any activity on the Pentominium site would be a huge scoop. The Dubaii members on here would flock to the thread with pictures, post in caps lock with an amazing number of exclamation points, and the dancing banana gif would fill several pages' worth of posts.

However, their constant monitoring of Dubai developments also means the reverse is true: If nothing is posted in this thread, nothing post-worthy is happening on the Pentominium site. News are posted if the status quo is changed, so if no news are posted, the status quo remains the status quo, so to speak.

TL;DR - if work starts on the tower, this thread will explode. If the thread remains unexploded, work probably hasn't started.

I think it's going to be cancelled because it's on hold for a very long time and i don't think that they want to resume construction.But I still hope.

For brevity's sake, could you title these videos "stagnation updates" instead of "construction updates" in the future if nothing is happening? Currently, this building is one of the world's most expensive bird toilets, alternately one of the ugliest lawn ornaments to ever grace a fancy neighbourhood. I wonder how debt-riddled the project is - for instance, apparently Dubai Pearl is still billions of dollars in the red compared to square one.

I know what I'm saying here is 100% unrealistic because the towers would have to be torn down and re-built from scratch for it, but they should redesign this tower and Marina 106 to be 100m taller each, but design the bottom 100-150m of each to be a big, empty atrium - because I don't think anybody will ever be interested in buying an apartment/penthouse/etc without any view there. I'm sure they could use that empty space for something, but not for residential real estate.

One term that would accurately describe its status is: "heavily monitored". I mean, it's one of the tallest buildings anywhere that was put on hold after construction broke, it's located in an area that's very frequently visited by skyscraper fans, and pictures of it are frequently posted all over the web since it lies so close to other landmark towers. It is famous enough on its own that if anyone were to read the word "Pentominum" in a news article, they'd spread the news and it would find its way here pretty quickly. If there were any indication of a change of the status quo, I think we would know immediately.

I stand by what I wrote above (wow, four years ago already): if work starts on the tower, this thread will explode. If the thread remains unexploded, work probably hasn't started.

It’s possible they’re may be demolishing near future … have you heard about cancer concrete? It’s because they’ve didn’t have cladding cover or take care of them…. They’re would be start cracking within 15 years from now if they’re start few years from no because of this budget fallout from crisis.

It’s cancer concrete can failure structural problems by saltwater ,storm and sandstorm ,heavy rains and also problem with pollution near as well as possible they’re can failure of concrete.

Not good idea they keep 29 floors when add on top 93 floors with hang out of buildings that render show plan could be failure overweight when they’re untreated old 29 floors concrete can led to collapse can knock down next door 23 Marina Tower 90 floors.

my opinion give you idea but they need to demolish start again or different shape.

Seeing this thread pop up in the proposals section again is such a throwback. I've always liked this building though, seems like something Dubai would build.
