"Crime I don`t see and I visit the CBD almost on a daily basis."

Strange, I visit probably 30 times a year on average, and I have seen multiple incidents, including shoot-outs and stabbings, and police called out because of dead bodies lying around, I personally know two people who received knife wounds.

I have also heard people who work there in hotels tell of incidents every day in the area in which you live, mostly muggings of visitors.

"Don`t see any decay either."

Maybe because you see it every day, but the state of almost everything behind the beachfront is shocking to anyone who has not seen it for a few months or years.

"Who are the Locals you refer to who would not take overseas visitors to the CBD?"

Don't play ignorant, anyone who would proudly show off the Durban CDB to a visitor from virtually anywhere else needs a shrink, you don't have to be a snob to realise that.

what is this spam trolling stuff?
So you don't like it? That's OK; each to her/his own opinion ...

It was nevertheless a sincere request for information motivated by genuine interest.

Personally, I don't enjoy seeing South Africans, or any part of South Africa, put down. People, mostly South African, nevertheless spend a great deal of time on the WWW doing just that.

Why???

It has since come to my attention that the forum in question has a history of abuse.

Be that as it may, the question stands: Is there any truth in the allegations about the Durban CBD? I'm hoping there isn't ... :)

on your issue and the comments on the other forum, i think most of the comments are born out ignorance rather than any form of fact. These people never visit the cbd, regurgitate second or third or 25th hand stories. Take a walk around the upgraded city hall precinct, the under pass to the workshop, the revamped park next to the workshop, walk along West st and into the new mutual mall which houses cafes (nino's) and top end stores like Nike that would normally have only had a presence in gateway or pavillion until recently. Look at the detail of the new pavements, the cleaners going about their jobs and then tell me that these people have actually visited.

I can bet they have not. I can bet that they talk with no knowledge. They are also probably the same people that say the beachfront is a dive, umhlanga is a village and King shaka should never have been built.

Sad really
I don't know, recently the Durban CBD has been pretty nice. Had a few long walks around it during the day and night and I was fine.
Rulz Rule, naturally ...

If something IS against the rules, then - of course - I won't do it.

In the light of the above, I can't see the point of such a rule. The WWW is about the free, instant and seamless flow of information. I come in search of information and, where possible, to share facts and insights.

Perhaps I did not make myself clear to a previous poster. No one has to even read a thread, let alone respond to it. As for imposing one's world view on others, well ...
That says something about needing to be "in control" doesn't it? Personally, if I cannot add anything positive to a discussion I leave well alone.

For all that, rules are rules and the owner/administrator of this forum is quite welcome to make rules and enforce them at her or his pleasure. Does s/he need all these volunteer helpers? Mmmmm ...

Indeed. One of the world's most well favoured cities, climatically and scenically.
