hm...a soviet architecture is clearly visible, and it's a bit out of date, but it looks like a nice and quiet city to live in ;)

Thanks for the pics. This used to be a partly persian-speaking country, but almost all signs on the pictures above have chyrillic letters. The Soviet union did wipe that country's heritage pretty bad.
They use the cyrillic alphabet, but the language still remains Persian in character - the Soviets simply changed the alphabet used, and added Russian technical terms, etc., but there has been talk of reverting to an Arabic-based alphabet.
