EFC & LFC have no rail stations but....

No rail stations for football giants Everton and Liverpool, despite nearby rail tracks. But little Watford FC on the edge of London is having its own London Underground station built called Watford Vicarage Road.

Why aren't the two mayors shouting from the high heavens about this imbalance in transport spending. Liverpool needs a station near EFC and LFC or in future a station at each club no matter where they are located. Liverpool has the rail infrastructure to do this.

Watford already have a tube station, an overground station and a main station on the West Coast Main line all within a mile or so of the ground.

I'd like to see Liverpool get a new station serving Anfield which can help increase capacity longer term beyond 60,000 or so.

If Everton get the ground on the docks then a new station will be needed between Moorfields and Sandhills.

A station at Finch Farm would be best for Everton, no?
Good job there is Sandhills and a promised one around Vauxhall for BMD.

Yes I agree. The site can accommodate a 80,000 seater. Look at the Spurs v Liverpool game today. A full house of 96,000. Give them easy access and top qualty facilities then they turn up.

But that site can only produce a small stadium. It is also a viable working dock.

Could they extend Merseyrail to Halewood?

It may happen if Liverpool is moved 200 miles to the south east.

Yes. Very easy to do. Finch Farm has rail tracks to the north and south.
"Viable working dock" is a great new catchphrase

On this subject though surprised Walton Village station hasn't been opened up, very close to both stadiums.

The lines only used for freight apparently and I think it's been mentioned before on here that the line would need to be electrified or something.
Perhaps ding ding trams would be good for both stadia?

I have used Bank Hall and Kirkdale Merseyrail stations when attending Everton games, and I consider both stations as serving Goodison Park. Are both stations still in use?

yes used kirkdale a few weeks ago from town. very convenient (even allowing for the signs to Anfield at the station exit - Im guessing its because our fans actually know where our stadium is )
