Chithode to Erode Swastik Corner for 8km to be widened to 4-lane under TNRSP-II. With additional funding, Gobi-Chithode (30.6km) 4-laning is extended. It will be 4-lane with paved shoulders and footpath/utility space. This Chithode - Swastik corner stretch is 81% Built-up area. So this will be a proper 4-lane city road for Erode.

Dimensions:
* Urban section of Chithode-Swastik Corner : 4 lane with 26m Right of way; 1.6m median; 7+7m Carriage; 2+2m paved shoulder; 1.7+1.7m Utility; 1.5+1.5m drain-cum-footpath

* Rural sections of Gobi-Chithode : 4 lane with 33m or 34m Right of way; 5m median; 1.5+1.5m paved shoulder; 1.5+1.5m Earthen shoulder; 1.5+1.5m Slope; 2+2m drain; 1+1m Utility

With 4-laning at 26m RoW in Urban limit; 3.7+3.7m pavements and 1.5+1.5 pedestrian, in future it has scope for including metro pillars too. Even with Metro pillars in the center, we can make 4-lane with pedestrian paths.

But I hope they will construct this road as per the exact standard without negotiating in the name of high LA costs; though the extent of land to be acquired for this is very minimum.

Gobi - Chithode (30.6km) section four-laning under TNRSP is having loads of additional infrastructures.

• Bus shelters with bus bays will be constructed at all bus stops in rural areas.
• Bus shelters will be constructed at bus stops in Builtup urban areas of Gobi, Kavindapadi and Chithode
• 3 Bus shelters will be coming up with additional facilities like A/c, feeding room and individual toilet blocks each one in Gobi, Kavindapadi and Chithode (all along LHS towards Erode direction).
• Pedestrian foot-over-bridge with Escalator coming up infront of Gobi BS.
• Pedestrian walkways along the side with Solar panel roofs in select urban stretches.
• Roads will be 6-lane (4 lanes for thorough traffic and 2-lanes for Slow moving local traffic) in urban builtup areas and 4lane with paved shoulder in rural areas.
• Realignment has been proposed near Amman Arts College. The new road will go south of Amman Arts College. (College will be in one side and playground will be in other side)
• A Track lay-bye parking is coming up near Chithode byepass opp. Seventh day Church.
• A Toll-gate is also coming up near LM Palappalayam b/w Kavindapadi and Othakuthirai.😀

Chithode-Swastik Corner (8km) section is proposed as an extension of this project. So hope that better facilities and infrastructure will come up in this section too as this section is 88% urban builtup. No idea whether they will put another toll gate in this section or not .

* Tenders floated for Chithode - Swastik circle (Bus stand) 8km stretch of SH-15 upgradation to 4-lane with paved shoulder under TNRSP-II.

Entire stretch is city built-up will be provided 14m of main carriageway (4-lane) with 1.5m of paved shoulder on each side and 1.5m of paverblock shoulder on each side and SS railing and then 2m of drain cum pedestrian path on either side.

Two Foot-over bridges coming as a part of this project. One near Hindu Kalvi Nilayam and the other near CNC.

* Tenders floated for 4-laning of Tiruchengode-Erode SH-79 for a stretch of 10.8km (Thokkavadi to Cauvery Bridge) along with Elevated Corridor for 3km at Pallipalayam.

2-lane Elevated Corridor is planned from SPB Colony ROB to Cauvery Bridge for 3km with a ramp towards Ottanmethai (for Erode to&fro Sankari vehicles). Full-scale service roads will laid for this entire stretch.

Third phase of outer ring road project begins in Erode

Land acquisition for 815 metres in the Anakalpalayam – Thindal Medu stretch had halted the project for over six years now.

The much-delayed Erode Outer Ring Road project resumed here recently as the State Highways Department is keen on completing the third phase of the work within three months after which traffic congestion on arterial roads in the city is expected to get reduced.
The 14.8-km project, sanctioned in 2006, will connect Kokkarayanpettai in Namakkal district with Thindal Medu in Erode district and was planned to be implemented in three phases. While the first two phases, Kokkarayanpettai to Lakkapuram and from Lakkapuram to Anakalpalayam were completed and opened for traffic, land acquisition for 815 metres in the Anakalpalayam – Thindal Medu stretch (7.2 km) halted the project for over six years now. Land owners of 400 metre stretch at Puthur Pudupalayam, two houses at Rangampalayam and an agriculture land at Anakalpalayam approached the court and recently compensation was finalised for the owners
Two houses at Rangampalayam were demolished and the land at Anakalpalayam was acquired and compensation was settled to the owners.

However, land owners at Puthur Pudupalayam claimed that compensation is yet to be settled to them and had an altercation with officials on Friday. Later, revenue and police officials explained to them that compensation was deposited in the court and they can submit their claims. Later, officials continued the work.

A senior Highways Department officials told The Hindu that work had commenced in the 850 metre stretch and would be completed within three months. After completion, vehicles can use the stretch without any interruption, she added.

Private vehicles and lorries from Namakkal and Karur districts proceeding towards Perundurai and Chithode can use the road and need not enter Erode town which will give a respite to road users.

Ring road works on completion gained pace. We can expect completion and official opening within 2 months.

Now itself traffic increased. Once completed, it will be put to its maximum use as it has not been planned as 4lane facility.

It will need upgradation to 4 lane very soon.

Vendipalayam Subway Approach roads getting ready. Old Karur Road to be put to use again soon. Hope 1st gate also gets a subway soon.

As many as 70 houses that were constructed on the highways department land at Vendipalayam were demolished by officials paving way for laying the approach roads to the railway underpass that is currently under construction.

Currently, work is on to construct the underpass at Ward 60 in the corporation limits. Since approach roads need to be laid on both the sides of the underpass, officials had served notices to the encroachers last week asking them to vacate their houses. However, they refused to vacate and threatened to stage a protest.

Erode Revenue Divisional Officer C. Saibudeen held talks with the people three days ago during which officials assured them that they will be allotted houses through the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board. People also agreed to it and vacated their houses. On Thursday, three excavators razed down the structures and the demolition drive was completed amidst the presence of a large police force.

With motorists and traders urging the district police to reintroduce two-way traffic on Mettur Road, Collector C. Kathiravan, Superintendent of Police P. Thangadurai and Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan, along with senior police officials inspected the stretch and discussed vehicle flow patterns on Monday.

The 750-m stretch from GH Roundabout to Swastik Corner is one of the busiest stretches in the city with the presence of Corporation central bus stand and commercial establishments on both sides of the road.

The district police had in May introduced one-way traffic system on the stretch by allowing vehicles to move from GH Roundabout to Swastik Corner while vehicles in the other direction were diverted through Nachiappa Road. This led to frequent congestion on Nachiappa Road while the stretch from Swastik Corner to GH Roundabout was closed for vehicle traffic.

On Monday, Mr. Kathiravan, Mr. Thangadurai, Mr. Elangovan and other senior police officials inspected Mettur Road and held discussions on reintroducing two-way traffic on the stretch. Flow of vehicles, traffic congestion, vehicle parking in front of shops and vehicle traffic on Nachiappa Road were discussed. The officials said a decision would be taken on the issue soon.

Nothing except a flyover will reduce the traffic on mettur road. But they are not implementing it.

True. Still status not known abt swastik corner to ssvn school elevated corridor which is announced during last year assembly session. And erode bhavani mettur NH widening.

Vellakoil erode sankari bharatmala NH sector plan also not available.

On tiruchengode to erode SH 4 laning, a 3km long elevated corridor is planned at pallipalayam from cauvery bridge to spb colony flyover. Also a new carvery bridge is planned to replace old bridge. But nothing happening in erode district side.

Old karur road 2nd gate (Vendipalayam) Subway works. You can compare the one recently opened near spb paper mill in the exact opposite side of vendipalayam in namakkal district. It was a wide and tall subway but this is a small one it seems.

As per a news report from highways officials, DPR has been recently submitted to GoTN for approval. Its originally planned to start from kalingarayan bungalow and end at thindalmedu beyond villarasampatti link road for 5.5km. But now it seems to be extended for 1 more km till chinnamedu near volkswagen showroom beyond the EORR intersection. Also the revised estimate is also increased to 350 crores it seems.

Good, Erode is elevated road on 3 sides entering into city.

From Coimbatore/Tirupur on Perundurai road.
From Sathy/Gobi on Sathy road
From Salem/Tiruchengode/Namakkal road on Palipalayam road.

This is quiet ahead than any two tier city in TN. Wonder if this will be on priority list once the gvt changes.
