I visited Fremantle and managed to so many wonderful photos of the suburb in just a short period of time.

A few general shots to start the thread.

Yes great shots. Perhaps some old school movies (of modern times) are filmed in Fremantle? Like they use the British cars and all that jazz.

Fremantle buidling owners are in the process of replacing the ugly 60s era awnings with original federation style ones which should make the area much nicer, but it is taking forever.

There are a number of developments approved for Fremantle that are very interesting which should really make the whole area better as well.

Victoria Quay

Victoria Quay is the old port precinct in Fremantle and is on the southern shores of the Inner Harbour at the mouth of the Swan River.

There is still maritime use today. This includes a ferry terminal and a cruise ship terminal. However there is some retail, markets, cafes and restaurants.

And the area is home to the WA Maritime Museum.

For us skyscraper nuts there is also the Fremantle Ports Tower.

It's a bit odd seeing nobody on the street - I tend to only visit when there are lots of people.

Yeah, when you visit on the weekend, you just about have to walk on the street to avoid the crowds.

Same as the CBD really. Monday-Friday there are people around, but not many. Then Friday it's like a million people woke up and started walking around.

How did you manage to squeeze through all the massive throngs of people on the streets?
The implication being that Brisbane is better. Which it isn't. You've got the same clean broom disease we have, at least we've acknowledged it and are moving on.

Thousands of images of Freo like these. They're always having festivals and like Hack said, the weekends are always busy.

Many of the streets, especially to the west, even though they're lovely old heritage buildings, it's a business district. My mum used to take her mohair there to sell, to an export business. The harbour is a working harbour. They're not going to be swarming with day-trippers.
