I'm with you on this as there is a need to counterbalance those who are staunchly anti development of any sort.

That said, I drove down Vauxhall Road at the weekend for the first time in a while and, I've got to say, the fairly recent development that is on the old petrol station site (I think it is called "Young House") is shockingly bad. I know this part of Liverpool is full of gap sites and there's sometimes a feeling that any development is better than no development but I think we need to apply a bit more discretion so that we support the decent schemes, but if necessary call-out the poorer ones if they are just not good enough. That's not to say that this particular scheme is a bad one, more of a general point.
