OT: Philippines falls to Chinese Taipei but still advances in FIBA Asia U16

The Philippine Under-16 team fell 95-90 to Chinese Taipei, Friday (Saturday, PHL time) at the Azadi Sport Complex in Iran, Tehran, but still advanced to the second round of the FIBA Asia U16 Championship.

The loss gave the Philippines a 1-1 card in the group stage, after beating Kazakhstan the previous day, and it was enough to put them in the second round, along with Japan, Jordan and India.

Philippines falls short of the quarters at U18 3x3 FIBA World Championships
The reigning FIBA Asia 3x3 U18 champions Philippines couldn't arrest their slide, losing their last two games in group stage of the 2013 U18 3x3 FIBA World Championships, as they failed to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The Philippines lost 19-14 to the Czech Republic and 21-14 to the United States on Saturday, in Jakarta, Indonesia, giving them a 3-4 card, which was out of the top four of Pool B.

Big third quarter helps Philippines rout Japan in FIBA Asia U16
The Philippines led for nearly the entire way against Japan, taking a 94-76 victory against their foes, Sunday at the Azadi Sport Complex in Tehran, Iran, in the 2013 FIBA Asia U16 Championship.

The win was the Philippines' second in Group F, giving them a 3-1 card after dispatching Jordan the previous day. That tied them with their erstwhile perfect foes Japan, leaving Chinese Taipei the sole undefeated side in their group.

PHI/KOR - Fluent Philippines have Japan’s number; Korea back to winning
TEHRAN, Iran (3rd FIBA Asia U16 Championship): Twice semifinalists Philippines dished out their most fluent display in the 3rd FIBA Asia U16 Championship so far and harvested a handy 94-76 win over Japan on that will hold a lot of weight when the time comes to finalizing the pecking order for quarterfinalists from Group F.

Japan went into the game without a defeat so far, but it was Philippines who dominated the proceedings right through.

Philippines reaches quarterfinals of FIBA Asia U16 Championship
The Philippines topped Group F by beating India 78-67, Monday (early Tuesday, PHL time), to earn a berth in the quarterfinals of the 2013 FIBA Asia U16 Championship, in Tehran, Iran.

After entering the second round with a 1-1 card, the Philippines proceeded to sweep their opposition, dispatching Jordan, Japan and India, to top Group F. As a result, they'll play Group E's fourth seed, Iran (2-3), in the crossover quarterfinals.
