Fiji Airways in recent weeks filed schedule changes for Nadi – Adelaide route, which sees the airline schedules last flight on 20JUL19. The airline currently operates this route twice weekly with Boeing 737 aircraft.

FJ961 NAN1630 – 2035ADL 737 15
FJ960 ADL2200 – 0540+1NAN 737 15

Last flight currently scheduled on 20JUL19, as the airline operates extra flight on Saturdays from 13JUL19. The airline did not file service resumption date.

Fiji Airways from late-July 2019 is temporary suspending Jet service at Suva Nausori Airport, due to runway maintenance project. As a result, following service will not be offered from 23JUL19 to 26OCT19.

Suva – Auckland
Suva – Sydney

Both routes currently scheduled as 1 weekly 737-700 service for the month of July 2019.

Korean Air in recent inventory update adjusted Seoul Incheon – Nadi route, which sees the airline closed reservation for travel on/after 01OCT19. The Skyteam member currently operates this route 3 times a week, with Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Chinese developers hope for high rise resolution in Fiji

The Suva City Council in June halted work on the WG Friendship Plaza after claims it was encroaching on the grounds of Holy Trinity Anglican Primary School.

The Chinese developer, WG International, said it wants to swiftly resolve the matter and is ready to compensate the complainant.

In a statement, the developers said the multi-million-dollar project will benefit Fiji and is due to be completed by the end of 2020.

A spokesperson for the owners of the church land occupied by the school says negotiations with the developers are ongoing.

Delay in approvals from certain agencies slowing down construction on the FHL tower

A delay in approvals from certain agencies has slowed down construction on the 17 storey Fijian Holdings Limited Tower at the corner of Gordon Street and Thurston Street in Suva.

Fijian Holdings Limited had set a timeline for the construction work to be completed by 2021.

The $65 million FHL Tower is being built opposite the current FHL building, Ra Marama House.

FHL Chief Executive Office Nouzab Fareed says as a result of the recent problems arising out of other tall buildings, all the agencies are taking a very stringent approach in approving new buildings.



Fareed also says they working with the Water Authority of Fiji to get clearance on some of the work they have to do on the ground.



The project is expected to provide employment for 200 people.

$82m worth of construction approved

$82 million worth of construction was approved in the March quarter of this year, according to the Fiji Bureau of Statistics.

The Building Statistics report shows 422 building permits issued in the first three months of 2019. While this is a slight decrease from the same period in 2018, the value of work has increased by 15.6 percent.

The Central/Eastern Division made up the largest chunk of these building works at 65.6%. The construction includes commercial developments as well as private dwellings.

Meanwhile, 120 Completion Certificates were issued in the same period with a value of $27.8 million.
