I didn't realize the Plaza Tower was the third tallest...I thought it was Energy Centre right up the street there. I think they are real close.

Miami's third tallest is actually the Marquis and not 900 Biscayne. The listings are wrong in that regard. I was told by the former marketing director of Arquitectonica that the Marquis actually went all the way to 708 feet rather than 679 feet, while 900 Biscayne stopped at 649 feet instead of making it to 712 feet.

Anyone who doesn't know much about OKC's First National Center should take a closer look...it's a really beautiful art deco building - if you like that sort of thing. There are some decent close-ups on flickr.

Marquis at night is one of the best new things in Miami! :)
Given the commanding vantage point, I find it a bit underwhelming myself. Granted, it is a residential tower which explains a good bit of it...just my opinion of course. I do like the lighting design at the top though :)

I'll add a few more since we have so many displayed....the more the merrier!

When is the last time you were here? Take a ride into Miami across the McArthur Causeway from South Beach at night and I don't think you will come away with that same opinion. You will pass right under it, and I don't think you will find it underwhelming. What does being a residential tower have anything to do with anything?

Perhaps you're right, I have not seen the building at any point during its existence other than through photos.

Residential towers are typically (and like anything else, there are always exceptions) not quite as aesthetically pleasing as are other buildings. Lighting is often dampened down for obvious reasons, many have gaudy balconies scattered throughout, etc. Not saying these apply to Marquis, just my observation of residential towers as a whole.

Ok, if you say so. That's a discussion for another thread.

Don't cut off part of my quote when it's pertinent to the conversation lol. I'm sure if any city in America is the exception when residential towers are concerned, it would be Miami. But yes, I agree it is for another thread.
