One of the final areas in the Fjordcity that will be developed is Vippetangen.

Today, Vippetangen is located directly south of Akershus fortress. It's the home of perhaps one of the most iconic buildings in the town when entered from the sea or south/east, namely the old grain silo. It is also a locality for different ferries and cruiseships, both local and international. Finally, you'll find the city's main fish-market here.

Vippetangen is perhaps one of the most difficult to develop, as different protective interests conflicts with both new buildings, but also a struggle to manage access to necessary harbour functions that will also have to be part of the finished development.

Formal planning for Vippetangen were initiated in 2011 when Plan- og bygningsetaten ordered a team to start investigating on different options for development. Both affected city agencies as well as the Oslo harbour authority were involved. The summer of 2013, this group announced an invited competition for a few architect teams. Their suggestions are to be revealed at an exhibition next week.

The three suggestions are based on three different approaches to development at Filipstad. The first is Vern (lit: "protection"),
Team: April Arkitekter AS, Lala Tøyen AS, Civitas AS, Mattias Ekman og Jon Benjamin Tallerås.

Second is Moderate,
Team: Superunion architects/ Carl-Viggo Hølmebakk AS, Studio HP, Buro Happold, Hovind og Odel.

And the final one is called Radikal,
Team: Tupelo Arkitektur, Dronninga Landskap, Vigdis Storsveen, Høyer Finseth og Rønnes rådgivning.

There are a few more sketches to be seen in this leaflet: http://www.prosjekt-fjordbyen.oslo....iler utlagte saker/2014/Vippetangbrosjyre.pdf

The project team is expected to choose a final premesis for developing Vippetangen based on all three suggestions. This could lead to a plan for regulation for Vippetangen. Most likely we're likely to wait quite a few years until we'll see any digging in this part of town.

I need to see better pictures! This area is both important and has a lot of potential so I hope it turns out good. I hope it is not waiting in line for some other development to finish before it can start.

none of them. I will only support an approach which includes demolition of the silo..
I like the campground on top of the ferry terminal in the first option. Great use of space and a fantastic location to pitch a tent.

Sorry to the people who disagree with me here, but Erling Dokk Holm must be completely retarded to think that we should cover up Akershus Festning just to get more residences.
^^There is plenty of room at Vippetangen without "covering up Akershus". Realising just turning the silo into "culture" is not nearly enough to draw the masses to this place is a important first step. Especially now that the ferry to the islands is getting moved.
Gonna be honest here and say it looks miles better than previous proposals.
Agree. Think it will make a big difference with an expansion of kvadraturen, as they propose here, so the area dont get so isolated from the city as in previous designs.

I like the extension of Kvadraturen. I don't care for the part around the old Silo.
Now all they need to do is bite the bullet and start using the buildings around akershus festning more viably - it's like a ghost town, that area around festningsplassen and the forsvarsdepartmentet. I could see that building in grev wedels plass becoming an amazing luxury hotel :)

^^ Thinking of Gamle Logen? I don't think that is suited for running a hotel. Most of the interior is taken by a scene.

The problem, and I have expressed this opinion before, is the military holding their sweaty fingers on the best location downtown Oslo. They should move out! Let people move in!
