Flat hunting...

I'm nigh on finished with my degree and its my wish to live within the city centre, if and when I ever get a job that is.

I'm just wondering what steps I should take to do so, and hear peoples experiences in acquiring a rented residence. How long did the process take? Any background requirements? Recommended estate agents? etc etc, also particular developments akin to the income of a just become graduate.

If anyone could provide some advice....truly grateful!

My friend is moving in here.

Dunno the contact details though. It's £100 per week for a double room, inc some bills i think. 5 mins from deansgate.
Good for him as he's going 50/50 with his bird.
Much appreciated... :tongue3:
i had a really bad experience with belvoir. can't be bothered to say why. think i posted in the manc skybar about this a few months ago.
Just found a couple of good links:

This is also a good link i've posted before:

Christ I've got to start flat hunting soon. I hate looking for somewhere to live. Roll on the socialist revolution where our property is assigned to us by heartless bureaucrats. It sure beats going round to people's houses and being falsely cheerful for half an hour.

Hi emma, we went to look at a couple of duplex flats last year which seemed very quiet, but that was during the day. outside noise isn't really a problem but whats your opinion on the sound proofing in Leftbank from neighbour noise from above and below? I thought they seemed quite solid at the time, but like i said i suppose it was the wrong time of day to suss it out.
The lowest ranked apartments according to luvthecity™, all got a 5/10:

221 Chapel Street
8-16 Bridgewater Street
Aura Court
Barton Street
Caminada House
Chatsworth House
City Heights - Deansgate
Cobe House
Express Networks - Phase 3
Fusion
Lincoln Gate
Millennium House - Old Trafford
Montana House
Northern Angel
Oxford Place
Parkers Apartments
Poplar Court
Princess House
Pulse
Saltra
The Citadel
The Eighth Day

I was expecting a few 1/10's in there somewhere...some of the blocks in that guide are new to me, quite a few seem to have been sneaked up in the environ of the NQ.

Seems a good idea for a site, listing properties for sale/to let, block by block, easier to find what you're after, rather than the 'postcode radius' randomness of rightmove etc. Will be interesting to see if agents advertise with them.

Actually it's not too bad, we don't really hear any of the neighbours and the wide carpeted hallways are silent at night. It doesn't suffer from the same 'one-night lets' that other blocks do, so quite quiet - even above the pubs. Although the ice rink generator can be a bit noisy at Christmas!!!!!

CDX - yeah just i had a quick look at that luvthecity link & theyre right about Express Networks 3 (i think its on Oldham Road) - what a dump. we looked at a 'penthouse' in there last year & i swear it was made of cardboard :eek:hno::eek:hno:

And why aren't there any 1s on the site?
I'm not too sure that site is 'telling it like it is' as it makes out. I think its just a clever marketing ploy.

All the reviews I read were quite vague and mostly positive.
I don't think someone was happy with their Timber Wharf penthouse being repossessed, either that or a tenant wasn't too concerned about getting their deposit back, advertised on LuvTheCity,

ONE OF MANCHESTER'S FINEST HOMES IS BEING SOLD FOR JUST £250,000 - HALF THE PRICE IT WAS SOLD FOR IN 2007. BUT THERE'S A CATCH...

Doesn't look that bad.

I wouldn't even call that a catch. Ten grand and a few days hard graft and i'd have it looking like new. It says the sockets and fittings have been pulled out but as long as the wiring is mainly intact, it would be fine.

I hope somebody deserving got themselves a bargain.
I see the closing date was last Thursday, but on the Reeds Rains website there's nothing on there to say that it had sold
