NOTE: I am not attacking the messenger.

----------------------------------------

IMHO, our President Hu Jin Tao is absolutely upset to be listed by Forbes.

The Reasons:

1) This Forbes ranking is rather poisonous.
This ranking does not add value to society.
This ranking generates undesirable useless personal fame,
which in the end leads to the decaying of a nation from within.

2) In China -- It is not about the fame of one individual superstar like in USA and many other Western nations.
It is all about the fame of the whole country and the Sustainable Prosperity of China Nation.

3) I am absolutely certain that our President Hu Jin Tao will be please
to see the Forbes list ranking China to be the first country on Earth:

--------------------------------------

3a) that build the first "Kilo_Peta_Flop" Supercomputer

3b) that build 500 km/hr HST (Hi Speed Train) across the nation

3c) that build a Moon Base.

3d) that build the Fusion Reactor using Helium-3 to generate unlimited electricity.

3e) that terraform the Gobi desert into a dense Gobi Forest

3f) that terraform the Moon

3g) that send Yǔ Háng Yuán (Taikonaut) to Mars

3h) that terraform planet Mars

--------------------------------------

BTW, once China has finished terraforming the Gobi desert into a Grassland,
-- China will have much more spaces to live.

:angel1:  :D

I personally will not hesitate inviting the good, decent, and peace loving Israelis Scientists and Engineers
to build settlements in the Gobi forest (mass migration),
thus maybe gradually ending the Middle East conflict between Israelis and Palestinians once and for all.

OTOH, I feel majority of Israelis will refuse this Gobi forest invitation above for the Jewish historical Biblical reason.
-- Am I right?

Other Chinese people on the list of the 68 most powerful people in the world:
#11) Zhou Xiaochuan
#30) Lu Jiwei
#32) Li Changchun
#36) Li Ka-shing
#46) Robin Li
#62) Wang Yong
You forgot #39). He's a Chinese too.

By the way, I'm surprised Hu topped the ranking while Wen didn't even appear on it. Isn't Wen more powerful than Li Changchun?

I think you're missing the whole point when you're talking about "one individual superstar"...
Hu is #1 because he is a leader of China. So it is a power of both country and the office within the country that make him most powerful person.

Plus all the talk about not individual, but collective... it is much more a pretend than reality. Just look around yourself in modern China...

I don't know all of them, except Li Ka-shing.

I wonder too, why Wen Jiabao didn't included in the list. He is China's PM, a very importance person, he run and manage the country.

My favourites for the most influential Chinese individuals are:

Lang Lang (郎朗), Yao Ming (姚明), Liu Chuanzhi (柳传志) of Lenovo, Zhang Xin (张欣) of SOHO China, and previously mentioned Li Ka-shing (李嘉诚).
