Long Island University planning 476-unit resi building on DeKalb Avenue

Long Island University is bringing a new residential building with 476 units to Downtown Brooklyn.
The Perkins Eastman-designed project at 61 DeKalb Avenue will stand 34 stories and 435 feet tall and span just under 371,000 square feet, according to filings with the Department of Buildings.

The property was previously owned by the city, but it transferred ownership to Long Island University in 2004, property records show.

61 Dekalb is also site of the old Paramount Theater (also formerly LIU's Gymnasium) which is supposed to be restored and reopened as a concert site by Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment (Owners of Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets). How will LIU's new development impact that project ??

I don't think the theater restoration will be affected. I don't think their plans for where the tower will go are solidified yet.
