Frankfurt-Höchst (Hoechst), a whole remaining original old town in Frankfurt City!

I think old Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen needs to drop its bad image and audience like the Bahnhofsviertel before to become a gem again. But there's a lot of great potential!

It could follow the way of Frankfurt-Höchst and its old town in many ways, the other originally kept old town in the city of Frankfurt:

Frankfurt-Höchst VI, original old town

Of course, that shouldn't have been all yet. What about some highlights?

Frankfurt-Höchst even has some palatial charme:

Remember: Frankfurt has been a center of trade, royal power (even HRR emperors!), citizen empowerment (German Revolution 1848!), technology, infrastructure, finance and wealth for centuries - as well as its surrounding areas!

There's a lot of great sights in the Frankfurt area if you educate yourself a little before going there. I hope I could show you around a little, so once you go to Frankfurt, you don't miss the really picturesque historical areas of the city! :)

If you think it's out of place here, we might as well create another thread - but frankly there's a lot of attention here and most visitors probably didn't have clue about Höchst and Sachsenhausen before. So I think it should be appreciated, developed and visited more! Have fun and bring pics!

Erbse, Thank you so much!
I really appreciate it.
You can only imagine how gorgeous Frankfurt would be if intact,
I bet it'd be a tourist magnet.

There are not only the old towns of Höchst and Sachsenhausen, though these being the best known ones. Nearly every district that once has been independent from Frankfurt has its own more or less preserved old town, i.e. Bergen, Seckbach, Bornheim, Nieder-Erlenbach, Eckenheim, Preungesheim, some of them quite picturesque.

it's hard to believe that this was built recently :O
Hopefully it will help put to rest the myth that we can't build things that look like that anymore . I know many people who genuinely believe the 'craftspeople ' who used to be able to building beautiful buildings like that simple do not exist anymore , that those skills can't even be re taught. Utter nonsense , the people purporting that myth are architects who hate 'backward thinking' and developers who don't want to spend anything extra on a buildings beauty or quality so they can line their pockets

architecturally höchst is a very interesting, a former industrial district. however socially it's very much deprived so don't get shocked. kind of what whitechapel is to london or so.
