At the university site where the destroyed Afe-Tower stood (next to Marriott Hotel) is being developed a new project, probably some highrises. Height is unknown yet.

Were not 140 m and 100 m in the discussion?

not sure. any source about the height?
Only this... Bursting AfE-tower: it is the most visible sign of the urban (and economic) change on the old university campus in Bock's home. Where generations of sociologists and political scientists since the 70s of the 20th Century studied, should in future three new high-rise buildings with offices, a hotel and apartments are available. Near the Senckenberganlage can with 140 meters height of the tallest tower to be built, further inside another skyscraper of 100 meters.

Currently there are some negotiations about 2 mixed used towers containing flats, shopping areas and a hotel. Probably around 140 and 100 m tall.

The design competition will have to be held soon, if the want to start with this within the next 12 months. I just wish they would replace the 100m office tower with a residential tower.
If it was up to me they could just build those renders of the complex. Looks very cool.

According to news reports the spanish Melia Hotels has signed a 25 year lease for the tower.

Floors 1-15 are hotel floors (skybar on 15th) and contain 291 rooms. Floors 16-40 will have 300 business apartments.

The investor promises a 'spectacular' design. Construction is due to start in 2016.

Not as spectacular, as I thought, but there we go ... the final design, by Cyrus Moser Architects

Very solid design.
Probably me getting old but what is it with these "half/half buildings". Why does the design have to change halfway?

The lower part of the building is a hotel, the upper part contains 300 apartments. Both parts are divided by a sky lounge. I believe it was a requirement from the developer to show the different uses in the design.
I guess so. Same principle as with Metzler tower I suppose. I am just not so fund of the esthetic or the concept.
