So here is the third thread about my trip from Moscow to Beijing by train.
As a reminder, here are the links towards the two first threads :
- the first thread (about Moscow) :http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1228115

In this thread, I will post pics of Baikal Lake and Irkoutsk where I stayed two days before taking again the train towards Mongolia.

1- At about 60 or 70 km from Irkoutsk, the Baikal lake, a true inland sea in Siberia. The deepest lake in the world, containing 20 % of the world's surface fresh water !

I like the photos. They're artistic in that special personal way only one self can take them! Looking forward towards the next part (since I assume and hope there's a part four?) since I'm about to do this trip probably next fall.. Although I'm then going to continue from Beijing to Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore etc.. So these threads give me a lot of inspiration!
cool photos.
frankly, my first time to see some photos of this place.
Cool, very nice photos around Baikal lake :)
Well done, a part of Russia that most tourists don't see. Even if it looks poor, it's also charmy.
^^ True, although poverty seems to be visible all over the place, it also looks like a really charming place to visit.

I especially liked this picture: the old vs. the new Russia.

Thanks for your amazing photo tour, GM. While it's obvious that there's lots of depressing poverty in Russia, I agree with the other forumers. The area has a quiet beauty that's quite charming!

A very fascinating peek at Siberian life. :)
really nice! thanks for sharing!
Fantastic, love those siberian wooden houses!
the photos are pretty overwhelming..this is exactly what i wanna try someday..visit Russia by train..im practically lost for words right now..i hope more pics to come..thank u for this
Amazing!

Those wooden houses...how beautiful!
well....but some fixation on garbage bins and remnants of abandoned cars and ships is visible in the thread, isn't it? Its like made to illustrate some idea, I gess...
