Most people think Bavaria is Germanys most popular tourist destination, which is true, but Germans actually prefer to spend their holidays on the Baltic coast of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Let's see why.

Stralsund is pretty perfect.
What a beautiful, picture postcard city. A lot of those buildings must be reconstructions considering the city was heavily bombed during the allied invasion during WWII.

Most seaside resorts on the Baltic coast feature a very distinctive architecture, called "Bäderarchitektur", from the late 19th century. During Communist times they were neglected, but today most of the houses are expensively restored. Some impressions:
