Germany committed to support reconstruction in Somalia

On 6 May 2014, a German delegation headed by representatives from the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development visited Mogadishu for consultations on German development support to Somalia.

At the Brussels Conference on Somalia last September, Germany has supported the New Deal Process and vowed to support reconstruction in Somalia by reprogramming previously pledged funds which had been put on hold since the early 1990s due to the political circumstances.

A total of 94,5 million Euro has been made available.

During the consultations, Somalia and Germany stated to intensify their partnership and to enhance the dialogue on development cooperation support. It was mutually agreed that German cooperation will generally focus on support to economic infrastructure and the economic foundations of reconstruction, as specified under the umbrella of the New Deal process. Improvements in the day-to-day lives of Somali citizens and tangible economic recovery are very important for the people of Somalia to see the dividend of peace.

The delegation will continue its dialogue in Hargeisa on May 7 focussing on support to rural development, drought resilience and access to water.

The total volume of German Technical and Financial Cooperation to Somalia amounts to 436 million Euro since cooperation began in the 1950s. Source
Good development.

Good news. However are you guys going to create a thread for every country that pledges support for Somalia's reconstruction? Why not put that in a single "diplomacy" thread? Would be easier to follow that way

There's no way to make it without clutter. I think it's best to have different topics for different countries. If you have a topic with them all, how can you have any oversight?

Anyway the administrators should give a vote about that.

^I agree with you Modernnomad but in addition to such threads there should be a few threads forimportant/involved countries such as the USA, Turkey.
