The majestic figure of the seated Buddha is 34 metres high, was cast in China and took over 10 years to complete. Weighing 250 tonnes, it was unveiled in 1993 amid deeply religious ceremonies.

Visitors can climb the 268 steps to reach the platform where the Buddha is seated.

It's time to organize another Dutch forum trip to HK ;)
Shame that the whole area has become a lot more touristy and much less serene since the opening of the cable car and the "village".

Yup I think the so-called Cultural Village is so damn tacky:nuts:, I hope it could be demonished asap.
