Gilad Shalit asked to renew driver's license

Letter automatically sent from Transportation Ministry to kidnapped soldier's home summons Gilad to routine renewal of driver's license five years after it was issued

The Transportation Ministry sent the Shalit family a letter summoning Gilad, who has been in Hamas captivity in the Gaza Strip for more than four years – to renew his driver's license, as five years have passed since he issued it.

The letter, which was sent last month, also includes a warning that failure to follow the procedure within six months will cause the license's suspension. Sources from the Free Gilad campaign said Sunday the matter is clearly a misunderstanding casued by an automatic dispatch of the letter.

Nevertheless, a source in the campaign HQ noted cynically that efforts to release Gilad must now be expedited to prevent the license from being revoked.

The Shalit family and dozens of its supporters are scheduled to demonstrate outside the Prime Minister's Office on Monday while the weekly cabinet meeting takes place.

Come on, it was automatically generated and sent- you can't expect every single letter sent by the government to be checked- even dead people often get bills and letters.
Btw, just wondering, but is there any proof that Gilad Shalit is still alive?

As far as I remember the most recent proof is a year old video.
who is that guy
An Israeli soldier who was kidnapped by the Hamas in 2006, when his crew's tank was attacked while patrolling near the boarder with Gaza inside Israeli territory- 2 of his crew members were killed and he was kidnapped through a tunnel which was dug beneath the boarder from Gaza. He has been held in Gaza ever since, without any contact with the outside world. The Hamas demands Israel to release 450 Hamas members who were convicted in terrorism and are now held in Israeli prisons (held according to the international law- including family visits, lawyers, red cross supervision...- they can even take university courses while in prison), including terrorists who murdered dozens of civilians.

Needless to say, Hamas refuse to let the red cross see Gilad Shalit, he's been held for 5 years without a single visit of the red cross while every prisoner in IDF prisons receives red cross visits 3 times a month, every month.

I really don't understand why they are not releasing him, he's just one guy, that's why I doubt that he's still alive.

The media in Israel made a huge deal from this story, killing him will trigger a military offensive. Also, they know that they can demand a higher price when he is alive.
casualty of war , big deal + he was not civilian.
And i would do that because ?

its pretty simple , you join the army knowing things like this can happen , especially with the IDFs reputation towards civilian palastenians. They are juicy sitting ducks , especially when they are travelling in a jeep ! or worst yet when they walk in palastenian territory ... remember that one soldier they beat up and threw out of a window from a high balcony ?

You join the army because you have to join the army- there is conscription in Israel you know...
Anyway, do you have anything to say about the fact that he isn't treated according to the international law?

^^ Why are you bothering him? He hates Israel and Jews, no matter what. That's how his parents raised him, or his people teached him or media brainwashed him.

You cant, and never be able to change his Anti Semistic/Anti Israel attitudes.

So, just ignore him.

I 100% believe in the international law and stand for it. However , with Israel's shameless reputation and record of NOT following it on many many "many" occasions , I find it laughable to discuss.

M-120 .... Grow up , you do not tell people what I like or dislike , got it ?

There are many Jews I have great respect for , Jews you love to call traitors and apologists , sadly ;)

So it's funny to discuss people who accuse Israel on not following the international law in Gaza because it's well known that the Hamas does not follow the international law.

You are so one sided that it's ridiculous- even terrorists who murdered dozens of innocent people should be treated according to the international law, and the same goes for a soldier who did nothing wrong but protecting the internationally recognized border of his country.

dark shadow , do not throw stones when living in a glass home.

get a cup of tea , go through your posts , after an hour or two , see how one sided you are :)

If I were them I would have released him long ago to win the sympathy vote in the propaganda war.

when I told Russel that Israel was breaching international law he tried to justify it by saying that so were the palestinians.

Your way of thinking is very simmilar to his...
