Micro hydel power stations to be set up in Chitral: Saleem

CHITRAL: Minister for Population Welfare Saleem Khan has said that micro level hydel power stations will be established in various locations of the scenic valley in order to promote alternate sources of energy and meet the shortage of electricity in the district.

He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Alternate Energy Conservation regarding identification of the sites for the construction of hydel power stations in his office on Saturday.

The meeting reviewed in detail the possibilities of the establishment of power stations in the district.

The meeting was told that there were great potentials for hydel power stations with capacity of generating 10-50KW electricity each at various places of the picturesque valley including Damail Gol, Arandu Gol, Ouch Gol, Koghozi, Rumboor, Birir, Madak Lasht etc which could not only meet the electricity need of the local population but could also be used as an alternate source of fuel.

The minister directed the concerned authorities to prepare a formal feasibility report of the same so as to proceed further in this regard.

Thanx, I don't have any news from there. If you do, by all means, do start one.

:eek:hno:

I hope the thread starter had some "real projects" in mind and we won't be crawling the web for hatchery issues in NA and posting them as "news" and "updates".

The project section is for Highrises and/or other mega projects. To me, the only two relevant posts here belong to the energy and agricultural sector resp.

^^ Guess Umais is 2busy with chics to have 2 mins to read it. Good4ya!

Anyway basically its talking about scraping New Murree Rs30 billion project after 5 years of court wranglings and NGO & ther environmentalists objections. The project was for the elite with world class facilities resort but would have had an adverse effect on already overcrowded murree as it would have developed 25% of the land earmarked for project. Next reworked project has to much easier on the environment of murree.

Now go back to smooching your floosies! jk

Does anyone disagree with this decision? The region doesn't have good enough infrastructure surrounding it and this project would've just put a further strain on it.

I would like to see them invest 1/5 of the amount on making Murree a greener/cleaner weekend getaway for Pakistanis in the region, or at least do things that don't cost much money, like restricting pollution or the types of businesses that can operate within a 10km radius. The air quality there has gotten noticeably worse and Isloo/Rawalpindi residents are driving further to Mingora/Swat instead, which of course also worsens air quality.
