Just a suggestion, shouldn't the sub-forum be renamed Scotland? That's what it really is I guess :dunno:

Well, we all know that, it's just a label :)

Though I'm sure there was some talk of reorganisation a while back...

That's what I'm saying: we all know it, so why if we're going to label it, why not label it correctly?
This was always the Glasgow forum though, and there are about...5 threads which don't involve Glasgow?
Bizzare.

I came looking for an Edinburgh section today and couldn't find one.
I prefer Glasgow Metro area than Scotland, there is a reason why Glasgow has it's own forum and other cities in Scotland don't on scc.

I agree, it should be the Scotland forum, but getting them to change it would be like getting them to create a Newcastle&Gateshead sub-forum, you can ask, create petitions for it, argue your case all you like, it's just not going to happen.

Glasgow has enough developments to more than jusitfy it's own forum.

Er, there is?
Yes because Glasgow has larger scale projects and taller than other Scottish cities, Bigger population , Plus there is more to talk about in Glasgow compared to other cities. It may not be the main reason but there is a few to point out why.
The majority of forumers are Glasweigan too. The only truly active threads for other cities are Dundee and Edinburgh.
I think the forum name is fine as it is seeing as most of the threads are about Glasgow. Suppose changing it to a 'Scotland' forum might encourage more people from the rest of Scotland to post things about their cities, but who knows.
even if a Scotland forum was made it would still be mainly a Glasgow discussion. the Edinburgh, Dundee, and to a lesser extent Aberdeen, threads have been ticking over for the past few years but mainly due to one or three dedicated posters. also, the way the forum is structured, if there were to be a separate Scotland sub-forum it would mean the Glasgow sub-forum would be secreted away in there and not appear with the other (English) cities on the UK forum index.

either way, this discussion has been had with Gothicform so hes aware of the reasoning. he'll be the one to make any decision :)

I suppose, it just seems that Scotland covers a wider area; there are infrastructure developments in the pipeline that could affect the entire country, not just the locality of Glasgow or any of the other cities (renewable energy, rail links, new Forth crossing, etc.). And even if they aren't the busiest, the Edinburgh, Dundee, and Stirling threads are still semi-regularly updated.

Then again, it really isn't that important at all now that I think about it. This is a particularly crap Sunday night.

Keep it as is, everybody seems to be from Glasgow?!
I tend to think that threads on other cities get lost amongst the Glasgow stuff. Yes, the vast majority of threads and posters are from/about Glasgow; but that is because the vast majority of existing threads and posters are from/about Glasgow. Which means the vast majority of..... (repeat into infinity.) So I'd be happy to see a Scottish forum, with threads about other cities, and the more general topics (ie, the Scottish Devolution, aka the politics thread), and then a Glasgow construction sub forum.

But hell, however it's organised, I'll keep wasting my time here anyway.

Ho ho
It's kinda hard to see Edinburgh proposing a few supertall skyscrapers any time in the next 100 years....same applies for Dundee and Aberdeen etc etc, so on a skyscraper website the need for more then one sub-forum for Scotland beond Glasgow seems rather pointless. (Even though Glasgow itself hasn't been busy on the skyscraper front, it ahs proposed a few and has the potential for it, plus many more smaller projetcs).

I know that SSC has become more then just for tall projects, it encompasses low-rise architecural developments as well now, but beond Glasgow how many big new devlopments take place that would draw lots of forumers to comment on them??

Maybe just a seperate sticky'd thread for the rest of Scotland's cities should be created so that people can post info on other projects going up around the country? ...or does that sound too discriminating...kinda does to me and I wrote it :D
