Hopefully the maintenance angle is fully sorted and engaged.
Real weakness of any form of public sector infrastructure provision is the lack of upkeep.

The lanes will only come into play when the main streets are full up or there is a significant rent differential. Not sure this is the case in many areas of Glasgow away from Byres Road.

Need to sort out the weak areas on Sauchiehall Street before the Lanes take off.
However fair play to the pioneers in that area.

Great idea.
Interesting if they can provide the scale to pull it of.

However there is a but.
And it is a big but.

What is the story with the canoe?
Who found it, where was it found ?!?
Although who lost it might be the better question.

If Burt Reynolds is spotted out looking for it then I suggest you head for the hills.

Grumpy old man view but the quality of paving maintenance outside the GOMA is shocking. No use in improving an area if you are not going to look after it.

Grumpy old man time.

Two things are really bugging me at the moment --

1. Litter -- both the numpties that throw it and the half hearted efforts employed to pick it up.

2. Poor quality farmland -- not sure how Brussels disburses its subsidies -- SFP scheme -- but the state of the fences, the waterlogged ground and all the pasture with rushes growing on it would sheets some people are taking the money and running.
