The Glen Waverley station precinct will become an attractive destination for commuters, residents, shoppers and diners with the completion of works, following the launch of construction recently at the landmark $70 million IKON project site.
Minister for Public Transport Terry Mulder launched the construction stage of works with project partners VicTrack and Consolidated Properties Group and government representatives at the construction site on Kingsway.

Does this really need its own thread?
erickimani - just for future reference, projects like this should be discussed in the dedicated 'Melbourne Public Transport' thread.
Better still in Greater Melbourne thread in Vic Section.
Looks like link spam to me - click through the article and all you see is a site with a tagline "By Africa For Africa" and content lifted off a two week old press release from the Premier's office: http://www.premier.vic.gov.au/media...n-glen-waverley-station-precinct-project.html

Definately does not need its own thread

Besides, if they did this in Sydney there would be literally dozens of threads for similarly scaled developments...folks Melb is 20 years behind Sydney in this regard.
and definitely not a 'transport' project... it just happens to be railway land and next to a train station but has nothing to do with transport.
^^ Well indirectly it does, as the station entrance will be upgraded...
I think that is a stretch. if bunnings builds a set of traffic lights out the front I don't call it a road project I call it a development. This will play around with the entrance to Glen Waverley because it changes the precinct during its construction, it has a basement carpark entry where the present taxi rank is, and it will beenfit from the foot traffic through a replacement of the existing arcade through the shops there by an almost identical one.

Minister Mulder being there and the wording of the press release could have the ill-informed believe it was a $70 million upgrade of Glen Waverley station alone!

This is why anyone should think carefully before posting on this site. Forget about a discussion forum: just make sure you know who the big boys are here, or else they'll knock you wicked.

edit: no doubt this isn't a transport project, unless some further info is released: but I can't see why it should be deleted.
^^ Calm down, spaz. It's textbook SEO spam and should rightly be deleted.
^^ Completely true, but Yardy won't get that :eek:hno:
