Interesting that Rochester inhabits a higher tier than archrival Buffalo... I would assume this is due to its global niche in the optics industry.

I was thinking the same thing.....Kodax, Xerox, and perhaps UofR are the reasoning behind that I would gess.

It's mostly just a tourist destination....much like Las Vegas, which is also at the bottom.

I think BuffCity is onto something. Rochester's prestigious position as a center for drug distribution in the Northeast and the powerful gangs that control said distribution from their Rochester hubs may indeed influence our global network connectivity status. Our local gangstas need to know real-time when their shipments will be arriving from various locales around the world. They simply cannot do this reliably from Buffalo or Syracuse.

In this new era of just-in-time drug shipments, it's important for our gangstas to stay ahead of their competition by making full use of the bandwidth capabilities available in the ROC. Those who are not technologically-savvy get shot, hence our impressive murder rate. Heck, we may even regain our lofty status as Murder Capital of NYS if Buffalo doesn't pick up their pathetic pace, or increase their global network connectivity!

There's like 65 in NY...I doubt there will ever be that many in VA.
