Gorakhpur. The construction of the third terminal at Gorakhpur Airport has intensified. It is set to start construction by the middle of the new year. This terminal will be ready in about two years.
With a capacity of 350 passengers, this terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Like the metro stations, there will be automated stairs and a large flower plaza. WiFi connectivity will be available throughout the terminal. There will be comfortable chairs to sit on. There will also be modern toilet facilities for men and women. Two passengers will be able to check in and checkout simultaneously. Preparation for the new terminal was done in early 2020 but due to Corona the process slowed down. Due to the construction of the terminal, the scope of the airport will also increase by about one and a half acres.
Flight preparations for Chennai, Ahmedabad also
In view of increasing facilities and traffic at Gorakhpur Airport, some more airlines have proposed to start flights to cities like Chennai, Surat and Ahmedabad. With the commencement of services to these cities also, Gorakhpur Airport will connect to almost all major cities of the country. There are currently a total of nine flights. There are three each for Mumbai-Delhi and one each for Kolkata, Hyderabad and Prayagraj.
Airport status has also increased as passengers have increased.
