Looking good and is very encouraging. There's a huge plot of land on the other side of Chatham Street ripe for development too - this will make it more likely.
Being cynical here, but aren't the spread of place names into other either, smaller, or less desirable areas a result of developers and estate agents trying to get an extra few grand on rent or the value, rather than some organic phenomenon. You're right it is on the periphery of both. I would say that these days the Kelham Island name has spread as it has gradually become known as more of a district like St. Vincent's than the original 'island' section. I know a lot of people disagree with that, but that is how cities evolve, once a place is known as something it kind of becomes it.
I'd noticed this too. Houses which are clearly in Heeley being listed as Meersbrook on Rightmove. I suppose it makes more sense in Kelham's case though because there's so much dead land around it that needs to be made identifiable to people.Being cynical here, but aren't the spread of place names into other either, smaller, or less desirable areas a result of developers and estate agents trying to get an extra few grand on rent or the value, rather than some organic phenomenon.
You see it all the time on RightMove, for example. Large parts of Heeley are suddenly now Meersbrook and to a lesser extent, Banner Cross has become either Ecclesall, or Greystones.
Yes there are a few units at grund levelLooks great, will there be any units for cafes and restaurants etc on the ground floor?
Wait, what? Little Kelham is the housing development on the old Tyzack Works/Green Lane Works site. When was it being used for the whole area? It’s a good name - much better than ‘Little Kelham’ that was being floated about a few months back.
