Minneapolis tops the list of "green" commercial cities according to a joint study by CBRE and Maastrict University in the Netherlands. Chicago takes the 3rd spot.

Go Midwest!

Minneapolis has 77% of its commercial office space certified as "green" representing 152 million sq. feet of office space. 2nd-place is held by San Francisco, with 67.2%. Chicago is 62.1%, followed by Houston at 54.8% and Atlanta at 54.1%.

The Huntington center in Toledo was allegedly the first LEED certified sports arena in the country.. Not sure if the certification has held up though due to the arena not fully utilizing all the planned green elements
