February 22-24, 2008

Hey! Now here is something to get excited about! This is the SUPERBOWL, the WORLD SERIES, the TOUR DE FRANCE, the STANLEY CUP, the NBA FINALS, etc. of Professional Bass Fishing and has an international audience and participation. Folks, this is HUGE!
-Lake Hartwell to be used for the tournament.
-Televised weigh-ins to be conducted at the Bi-Lo Center.
-The Tournament exposition will be at the Carolina First Center.
-The Women’s Bassmaster Tour Championship and the Junior Bassmaster World Championship will be held at the same time on Lake Keowee.
-ESPN2 will devote 13 hours of programming to the Classic during the three-day event, including morning shows on the weekend and same-day coverage of the entire tournament.

Way to go, Greenville and the Upstate! I copied this from you RT. I wonder if this means we could be getting our Bass Pro Shops, seeing how they're one of the main sponsors of this event if I recall.

Someone threw the "bait" and "hooked" g-man. We'll call this event the G-man Fishing Tournament

Seriously, if the statement about "nearly 210,000 members within a 500-mile radius of Greenville" is correct, then this event should be a major boost for your area. I am not into fishing, but MANY people are.

Lake Wylie hosted this a few years ago. I guess they have a thing for the Carolinas.

 Quote from this article involving this fishing tournament: After bidding a tearful goodbye to his fans at the 2007 Classic following his disqualification for unsafe boating, a Classic championship would be an impressive comeback for the G-Man. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/classic/news/story?page=b_tourn_EO_hartwell_overview
