Damn right...although I'm not sure if that's what's actually being planned there now or is just a hypothetical suggestion, like the aircraft carrier. By next week it could be a proposed "Museum of Yak Products."

(still better than a Bay of Pigs museum, imo)

Why on Earth would anyone want a bay of pigs museum?
i sunk your battle ship

This gray monster would kill the natural beauty of our park IMO

I agree with you there Tallerthebetter, the drab color itself is oxymoronic to the beautiful blue-green waters of Biscayne Bay.

I've got it paint the ship a pastel color LOL!!! I don't know why Jacksonville didn't make a museum for it in it's own downtown, the city has a lot of industrial waterfront where it would blend right in and not be an eyesore as it will be in downtown Miami.

Actually a Bay of Pigs museum is still being planned for the area. The commission just officially funded a study for it last week. :bash:

-sigh- Who wants a Bay of Pigs Museum? Or better yet, who would go?! On the topic of the ship. I see some pros and cons to it.

PROS:
1. Use of an otherwise empty piece of water that could be a nice way to connect the American Airlines Arena with Museum Park.
2. It would bring yet another big museum to the downtown area, and highlight "Museum Park", with 3 museums: MAM, Miami Science Museum, and Marine Museum. And never a Bay of Pigs Museum.
3. It would be something different for Miami, and a bit patriotic.
4. It would attract more people to Downtown

CONS:
1. It's butt ugly
2. It would kill the tranquil view of the water, but then again, doesn't the Port of Miami kind of do that too?
3. It's massive

Overall, I think it's a good thing for Museum Park.

Ok why is there a perfectly cut square space of water there anyway? And would it even be deep enough for an Air Craft Carrier? Plus Aircraft Carriers are tall, that thing would be right in front of Marina Blue, Im guessin someones view could get blocked. And that thing doesnt at all look like it belongs in Miami. Im sure they could do somethin else with that. But at least its not a Bay of Pigs Museum I guess.
They need to put this in the basin inlet by the Marine Stadium in Key Biscayne.
Wow i really want to check out that Naval museum , who the hell wants a bay of pigs museum WTF!? .
I would hate to be a MarinaBlue owner if that ever gets built...

I am not saying a ship/museum would be a bad thing. I would love to look out my window and see say..the USS Constitution. Would also settle for the Balclutha, USS Constellation, the Elissa, or the Niagara. They are all historic tall ships that are far easier on the eye than a massive air craft carrier.

Floridawill just wanted to let you know that the Niagara will be in Duluth for the Maritime festival August 1-3. Here is a link: http://www.visitduluth.com/maritimefestival/
That would be awesome...similar to what they have in NYC or San Diego. A lot better than a f*ckin bay of pigs museum........ that would suck, i'd rather them build nothing than a bay of pigs museum lol

In the right unit you could "call the ball"........James could become a Navy pilot........The Red Bull Flutag can come back to town except the gliders could be catapult assisted.

What a bunch of numbskulls. Maybe they will be able to market it as the "World's Quietest Museum" since it will sit empty year-round.

Yeah exactly, I thought of the same thing, that location would fit it perfectly. Currently that sight is abandoned, and speed water races would should never go back there for the sake of all the manatees and marine life that make it their home. A stationary museum would be perfect.

Seriously the flugtag from the ship would be a great idea, especially with the marine stands of the old marine race course.

By the way, isn't that park design old? I do like the idea of the 3d theater there though. Leave the bay of pigs museum for the freedom tower... In fact, the museum should be an immigration museum with most of it cuban oriented - a huge space for the bay of pigs story could go there. A whole museum for that is so ridiculous!!
I think the aircraft carrier would be an ideal place to launch an attack on the Bay of Pigs museum. It would probably be more succesful than the actuall Bay of Pigs attack and earn them a museum on top floor of 900 Biscayne.
