I just don't get theses towers. From an architectural point of view they didn't work in New York and they're not going to work here. The WTC was pretty much disliked in New York before Sept. 11 turned it into a "sacred site" rather than an architectural structure.
I'm not American but I think it's almost mocking the U.S. to put up WTC look-a-likes in China. New Yorkers had a chance to re-build the towers as they were but chose not to. That should be respected. If a developer in Texas decided to put up a replica of the Grand Mosque of Aleppo that was pretty much destroyed in the current war, I think most people outside the U.S. would find it distasteful, and just a little bit sacrilegious.
