The entire area shown in that pic is basically just one giant pit. Imagine how much soil has been removed.
to be fair these developments usually aren't half as dense as american city centres, besides the most parking lot ridden ones. they look impressive, but in terms of office square footage they likely aren't anywhere close to large US office clusters like Chicago.
Yes there's probably less office space, but most of the project is residential and much denser than almost all American cities. This project isn't even in "downtown" Guiyang.

I guess there is only one phase for this project .
Damn!:eek2: What a picture! These twins are rising nicely. I hope the cladding will do them justice.

You are right, this project include 220 100m+ highrises(include 2 300m+ and 2 400m+),covering an area of 4 square kilometers, total construction area of 18,300,000 square meters:

(Guiyang's climate always cloudy, not air pullution)

This has got to be the largest construction project on Earth right now! 18.3 million sqm is unbelievably massive.

Just mind blowing. Any idea on the number of workers involved in all of this? Must be in the thousands... tens of thousands wouldn't surprise me.
