can anyone explain to me why the hell do they combine residential and shopping areas into one building. residential apartments should be in suburbs with some green space around them. even if they are in commerical area, a residential building shouldnt have lots of shops in it.

when cities expand horizontally, the land in the inner city becomes expansive, the old areas are bought and multi-storey construction begins. Poor and middle class ppl prefer to live closer to the CBD of the city since they want to limitize their expenses for transportation. The reason of combining apartments which shops is that commercial areas usually doesnt not goes higher than 6floors for max in most cases.....therefore for the rest of the floor u hafto introduce apartments.....if u compare the price of an apartment in gulberg that will cost u more but in a multistorey living the cost is divided among the various number of aparmtents within the same space.......! Mostly the working class lives in such types of aparments or ppl use them as offices.......but living with a family isnt suitable since u living becomes very suffocation as i say due to lack of green areas and open spaces!
