The forgotten Quarter deserves its own thread I think with the amount of developments that are proposed or under construction. Below I’ve made a development summary and a map with most of the projects in the Gun Quarter. It’s time to make our City Centre core even bigger!

I’ve made a diagram of the Proposed, U/C and Completed projects (within 5 years) in the area - you can see how much the area has changed and will keep changing.

RED: Proposed
1. Lancaster Circus - Student Accommodation
2. Snow Hill Wharf - Residential
3. Lower Loveday Street - Residential

TEAL: Under Construction
4. International House - Student Accommodation
5. Bagot Street Phase 2 - Student Accommodation
6. Globeworks - Student Accommodation
7. Comet Works - Residential
8. Princip Street - Residential

GREEN: Completed (Within the past 5 years)
9. Lucas Studios - Student Accommodation
10. The Penworks - Student Accommodation
11. Bentley House - Student Accommodation
12. Bagot Street Phase 1 - Student Accommodation
13. Honduras Wharf – Residential

In the next post, I’ve made a summary of the developments included above, all with the relevant links to purpose threads and all number and in order to match the map above

Hope it’s helpful!

Good effort Reiss!! :)
Great work Reiss.

I know how time consuming doing this all is for the benefit of the forum and sometimes it’ll go unnoticed but i appreciate it massively and members like you keep this forum worthwhile. Good job

Yes, great work Reiss. Thanks for putting this together - really useful. When you put it all together like this you see how much activity there is in this area.

I'm struck by the variety of architectural styles being used (of which I approve) and also the amount of preservation and restoration we're seeing too. Good stuff.

Fantastic thread. For someone who doesn’t know this area very well I can’t believe how much potential there is, it’s also great to put together where these sites are in relation to each other. The area is going to change dramatically in the next 10 years so definitely a part of Birmingham to watch.

Thanks for the update Reiss, think you deserve Forumer of the month if there is such an award and we are only on the 9th November 2017. :)

Thanks Reiss, excellent work. Big up the GQ!
First of all, thanks again for the comments above!

And secondly I apologise for the terrible stitching and colour of the photo below, the sun had different ideas

Here is a Panarama of part of the Gun Quarter, this is the A34 North entry into the City, and this few will look very different in the coming years

- First off we have 3 developments in the photo under construction (GQ) Bagot St 2, International House and Globe Works.

- To the far right we'll have Snowhill Wharf and just over the hump we'll have the Lancaster Circus student towers, all buildings are decent heights

- Of course Bagot St 1 is also completed.

All of these developments fall into the Gun Quarter, but also from this view you can see Snowhill Three, as well as Exchange Square Phase 1, and Phase 2 will certainly make an impact from this side of the City Centre.

The Gun Quarter is really coming along fantastic, and hopefully it'll be more integrated into the City Centre in the near future.

Birmingham Gun Quarter | General Thread

^^^ I hope they build on that coach and lorry car park soon.

Also I really hope that pub on the other side of the student accommodation blocks reopens soon. I'd hate to see it converted into residential. It's a very common fate for pubs nowadays and it needs to stop.

Are those the renovations by Javelin Block? It would be good to see more from them as their restorations are of such high quality around here and the JQ.

^^ Expanding on my post above, just found this on Twitter.
Javelin Block @javelinblock • 30 Dec 2017

JAV 81 The Press shop in Comet Works was one of our toughest restorations... It would of been easier and considerably more financially beneficial to knock this one down and build some white box rubbish. We don’t do rubbish. #javelinblock #restoration #architecture #birmingham

These are the sort of sites I like to see in the JQ. I like the big sites too but these small developments are what make the JQ unique. They make me feel proud. :)
